Choosing a compressor oil
Reciprocating compressors usually take VG 100–150 in the cylinders. Rotary screw compressors often take VG 46–68, or the OEM's own fluid. Match DIN 51506 VD-L for air service, and use special grades for gas service. High discharge temperatures and short drain intervals are signs that a synthetic may be worth considering.
