Choosing and caring for a thermic fluid
Pick the grade by your heater's maximum bulk temperature, and never run above IOCL's rated limit. The film temperature at the heater tubes is always higher than the bulk temperature, so good circulation matters. Plywood hot presses and textile stenters in Karnataka typically run a single heater loop. Sample the fluid every year for viscosity, acidity, flash point and carbon residue, and change it before cracking produces light ends and deposits (see the thermic fluid maintenance guide).
