About SERVO Therm

IOCL describes SERVOtherm oils as mineral oils developed for industrial heat-transfer service. They have excellent thermal and oxidation stability, low volatility and low vapour pressure for long, trouble-free life in heat-transfer systems. Special and Super contain selected additives. Special is noted for low sulphur and low carbon residue (CCR).

Applications

  • Thermic fluid heaters for textile stenters and dyeing ranges
  • Plywood and laminate hot presses (common around Tumakuru and Kodagu)
  • Chemical reactor jackets and process heating
  • Food frying, bitumen and asphalt heating lines

Selection advice

Match the grade to your heater's maximum bulk temperature and design. Don't run any mineral thermic fluid above IOCL's stated limit. Film temperature on the heater tubes is always higher than bulk temperature, so a system running close to the limit needs good circulation. For topping-up versus changing oil, see the thermic fluid maintenance guide.
